Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to play KCSN/LA benefit concert

You guys remember the radio right? Well apart of being a public radio station is getting funding to stay on air. Without annoying commercials and segments on the Jersey Shore, public radio maintains a level of quality that other stations lose. But they also lose the money those stations make off of running that mind numbing crap. To make matters worse, budget cuts at the government level are now going to be affecting public radio’s ability to get funded. So pledge drives are more important than ever. Cal State Northridge has a fantastic radio station (88.5 FM KCSN), which uses a Triple A format. The program director there is also radio/music industry legend Sky Daniels.

This fall, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are going to be performing at the campus to help out with the station’s pledge drive. The Benefit Concert will be held Saturday, October 29th, at the 500 seat Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on the campus of California State University, Northridge. Tickets will be sold during a membership Pledge Drive from October 14th through October 23rd.

Orchestra Pit tickets will be made available to KCSN members only via the station’s Pledge Auction taking place between October 14 and October 23 at auctions.kcsn.org. The auctions will also include one-of-a-kind autographed memorabilia from U2, Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Mumford & Sons, Mick Jagger, and more. Joining Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on this bill will be breakout new artist, Lissie. Lissie’s debut album Catching A Tiger was named iTunes UK’s “Album Of The Year” in 2010, and she has garnered significant press attention from outlets including Billboard, Esquire, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, SPIN, and USA Today.
