As you’re probably aware of by now, one of my undying loves is gritty, fuzzy, rock ‘n roll. Knoxville, TN rockers COOLRUNNINGS have been delivering on that premise for quiet some time now. 2010’s Dracula is Only the Beginning was one of the most under appreciated albums of the year, and with a solid string of singles between then and now, COOLRUNNINGS are poised to finally break out in 2012. Their new album is due out February 12th on LebensStrasse Records, and “Spirit of the High” is the latest sample. It’s got that kind of Marc Bolan style guitar whirl, and coupled with the band’s signature distorted harmony, “Spirit of the High” is a real jam.
