Video Premiere: Tam Lin – “Golden Apples”

Tam Lin - Medicine for a Ghost

New York folk rockers Tam Lin are set to release a new album (their fifth) called Medicine For A Ghost in October.  Having already garnered critical support for their seamless blending of old and new influences and for pushing past superficial musical boundaries, the band has just released the video for Medicine-cut “Golden Apples.”  Directed by actress/model/photographer Syrie Moskowitz, the video combines overtly religious imagery and subtext with Tam Lin’s lush and pastoral rhythms to create an aural representation of an alternative Garden of Eden.  Images of a golden faced being looking down on the struggles of a nameless woman and Tam Lin singer Paul Weinfield–as well as lyrical references to an “Anna Nazarene”–make it clear that “Golden Apples” is a comment on the nature of devotion and love (possibly divine in nature) and the fight to keep both alive.

Beats Per Minute is pleased to premiere the video for “Golden Apples,” from Tam Lin’s upcoming record Medicine For A Ghost.
