Tricky - False Idols

Tricky has had some rough times in the past decade. Forget having to live up creatively to two of the most influential records of the 90’s, those being 1995’s Maxinquaye and 1996’s Pre-Millennium Tension, it seems that he had a rough time adjusting to the continual permutations that his brooding, electro-influenced sound has gone through. There’s hope yet, as his latest single “Nothing’s Changed” feels like Tricky doing his own thing and not bowing to any outside pressure or fad. Coming from his new album False Idols out May 28th via his own False Idols imprint, this track feels like a throwback to his first couple of records, and that can only be a good thing. The album features vocals from Nneka, Peter Silberman (of The Antlers), and Fifi Rong.  But until we can hear more, check out “Nothing’s Changed” below.
