Lyrah dares to “Dream You Better”

Lyrahโ€™s latest single โ€œDream You Betterโ€ is a dream-pop gem crafted by a serenely confident artist who was once a tech executive. Since I havenโ€™t heard any music from Amazonโ€™s Jeff Bezos, Iโ€™m gonna assume that sheโ€™s the best songwriter to ever grace Silicon Valley.

Lyrah (whose real name is Kathleen Warner) was a product designer for Facebook/Meta for five years before making the leap to music. She designed the โ€œRecord Deal Simulatorโ€, which determines how many streams an artist would need just to earn one dollar. (Note to indie artists: this can be a depressing exercise.)

โ€œMy whole life I wondered what I could make if I actually gave music my complete attention โ€“ and this is it,โ€ says Lyrah (who pronounces her stage name โ€œlee-rahโ€, like the former Italian currency). โ€œWith everything that I make, I want it to feel like a soundtrack for someoneโ€™s life moments. And with this EP, I chose songs that live in their own relatable, cinematic world.โ€

Lyrahโ€™s brand-new EP has the intriguing title Drain My Bank Account (perhaps a nod to Elon Muskโ€™s first year at Twitter). The entire collection feels like the best dream you ever had: sun-dappled and radiant.
