Echo & the Bunnymen devotees Wax Idols are set to release their sophomore record Discipline + Desire on March 26th via Slumberland Records. The Oakland foursome combine echoing guitars, serpentine melodies, and half-buried vocals in re-imagining 80’s jangle/goth-pop, and the band comes up with something determinedly original but still very much reminiscent of the artists and sounds that they so obviously admire. Â In advance of Discipline + Desire‘s release, the band has just released the track “When It Happens” and comparisons to Echo & the Bunnymen and The Chameleons are inevitable, though not in terms of aping any particular genre but in how they repurpose specific tones and sounds. Â Listen to the track below. Â Also check out some of their upcoming tour dates below the stream.
