Nashville-based artist Jay Putty has truly been through an emotional wringer in recent years. He aspired to be a pro athlete, but a serious injury derailed that dream. He survived a devastating house fire in his teens and recently lost his father and a close friend to cancer.
Despite all that, Putty’s new single “Start Of Something New” is a triumphant story of resilience that features a high-flying, joyous chorus. It’s definitely a pop song, but there’s a hint of avant-country thanks to its banjo track.
“Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows,” says Putty. “It’s okay to be positive while also acknowledging life’s challenges. You can’t appreciate a rainbow without getting rained on first.”
On the bright side, Putty’s previous single “On My Way” was a hit on SiriusXM’s The Pulse. This is one artist who deserves some blue skies in 2025.
