Catskills songwriter Hannah Cohen is releasing a new album called Earthstar Mountain at the end of this month and today she’s shared a new track called “Dusty”.
Of the single, Cohen noted “Dusty is about the relentless passage of time that we will all experience, and the way beauty and sorrow intertwine at every turn.”
Cohen comes face to face with the reality of time right at the start of “Dusty”, pronouncing “it’s not supposed to be this hard / everything’s changing”. But, as the song oozes calmly onwards with a light array of percussion and feathered guitar, she starts to embody a feeling of accepting the fact of time’s passing: “everywhere you go now / there you are” she sighs philosophically. As strings and other subtly grand instrumentation swirl their way around her pristine voice, the crystalline quality of her coolness comes to the fore, accepting life for all its twists and turns.
