Imogen Clark brings acoustic fire to “The Art of Getting Through”

Although she now calls Nashville home, Australian-born artist Imogen Clark has spent a lot of time outside Music City touring the East Coast with Robyn Hitchcock and headlining shows in England. Imogenโ€™s new album Choking On Fuel contains acoustic versions of many of the superb songs sheโ€™s previously recorded with members of Elvis Costelloโ€™s band and other music legends.

Clarkโ€™s acoustic rendition of โ€œThe Art Of Getting Throughโ€ gets my vote for Americana Song of the Year. The track features a sensational harmonica part from Mickey Raphael, whoโ€™s usually busy backing Willie Nelson and Chris Stapleton.

โ€œSo many people have messaged me to say that they would love to have an album that captured the spirit of what I do live, and thatโ€™s what this is,โ€ says Clark.

One spin of this album and youโ€™ll see why reviewers often compare Clark to Lucy Dacus and Sheryl Crow. (In fact, the album contains a beautiful duet cover of Crowโ€™s โ€œIf It Makes You Happyโ€ featuring UK artist Kezia Gill.)

This new collection proves that Imogen Clark has the artistic fuel to be a star on three continents.
