Hyperpop provocateur Tatum Gale shares the giddy, bustling “New Look, Same Great Flavor” [BPM Premiere]

Tatum Gale has never considered anything but maximalism. His work bursts with life at every seam, spiraling in and out of focus, pure dance euphoria meets delectably bizarre, deeply idiosyncratic flavors.

His latest, “New Look, Same Great Flavor”, which we’re pleased to premiere, is far more than simply an anthem, however, instead opting for a pointed criticism of the music industry and its obsession with whatever is next. Opening with Gale recounting a dull exchange, the track is peppered with his offhand thoughts as a queer artist amidst his gentle singing, complete with nods to the likes of Charli XCX and the late SOPHIE.

Of the track, Gale shares, “This is as hyperpop as the album gets. It’s a super bright, punchy, distorted dance time. It is a collage of some of the gaudy, empty images we’ve seen going out on the town in the pre- and post-pandemic era.

The second offering from his approaching debut album, Pretty Green, the track is an enticing sign of what’s to come. Check it out below.

Pretty Green is expected in March 2023. For now, follow Tatum Gale on Bandcamp and Instagram.
