Greg in Good Company ache for “Home”

Greg In Good Company is a five-member L.A. band fronted by Greg Gilman, whoโ€™s something of a Renaissance man: songwriter, screenwriter and journalist. GIGCโ€™s new single โ€œHomeโ€ has the heart and power of Bruce Springsteenโ€™s best work and precedes their second album Quiet Days and Quiet Nights, which drops on June 9.

โ€œThe song has been a long time coming,โ€ says Gilman. โ€œIt took me a year and a half to write, with the lyrics finally coming to mind after watching the documentary โ€œI Am Another Youโ€, inspiring me to write a song about mental illness from two different perspectives: a young drifter running from the voices in his mind, and his mother back at his childhood home, wondering if her son is even still alive. Each verse is divided between these characters.โ€

GIGC’s music is American to the core. Last yearโ€™s โ€œDedication Songโ€ feels like a more serious version of John Prineโ€™s โ€œWhen I Get To Heavenโ€. And speaking of paradise, Gilmanโ€™s โ€œHeaven Is A Moment Here With Youโ€ has Dylan-esque energy.
