Cypress Hill get political with “Open Ya Mind”, announce 10th album

Cypress Hill refuse to slow down. Decades into their career, they continue to evolve and put out thoughtful material. 2018’s Elephants on Acid, which saw the return of DJ Muggs to the boards for the album’s entire production, was their best work in years, forward-thinking and delectably bizarre.

Now, they’re set to make yet another left turn. They’ve just announced their as-of-yet untitled tenth studio album, and it’s set to be produced by none other than Black Milk. To say the least, it’s an intriguing combination.

To mark the occasion, they’ve shared the project’s first single, “Open Ya Mind”, which (gasp) revolves around marijuana. However, it’s no simple weed anthem, instead, it digs into the legal ambiguity within the United States regarding the usage of the substance, even within States within which it’s considered “legal”.

Speaking on the track’s release, Sen Dog shares, “As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our debut, we wanted to be sure fans knew we weren’t planning on slowing down and can’t wait for them to hear the new album, coming early next year. “Open Ya Mind” gives you a taste of what’s to come and we can’t wait to return to see you on the road in 2022!
