Bjork collaborating with Syrian DJ Omar Souleyman

This years newest breakthrough artist wears a turban, and rocks some very urbane shades. He is Syrian DJ Omar Souleyman, and his Arabic synth and dance beats have won the heart of singer Bjork. The artists have collaborated on what will be released as a 12″ record, cd, and digital download out this year. (via TMT)

“What I thought was really refreshing about the recordings of Omar Souleyman, is that it was recorded what you normally call ‘badly,’ just as if it was recorded in a party somewhere with a microphone and just put straight on the internet,” said Bjork of Omar Souleyman to NPR.
