Big Thief release demos on Bandcamp with proceeds going to their road crew

The ever-productive Big Thief must be finding quarantine quite hard, as it means them staying in one place and probably not being together – something they haven’t done much in the last four years. Nonetheless, they’re still committed to putting out good music and good vibes to the world, and today have released a demos collection on Bandcamp, with all proceeds being given to their road crew.

Demos Vol. 1 – Topanga Canyon, CA – Feb 2018 features takes from the sessions that spawned their duo of albums from last year, U.F.O.F. and Two Hands. The band released a statement with the set, saying:

“We spent the month of February 2018 in a cabin in Topanga Canyon, California, recording 34 demos that were boiled down to become UFOF and Two Hands, and we’re bringing a handful into light now to share with everyone. We chose 5 of our favorites – none of which appear on any Big Thief records and a couple of which appear in different forms on Adrianne’s abysskiss. 100% of the funds we make from this release will go to our faithful road crew, whose income has been impacted by the disruption in our touring schedule. They are the lifeblood of the Big Thief shows and we care so deeply for each and every one of them.”

You can listen to ‘Live Young Demo’ for free below, and buy the five-track release for $5 (or more) from Big Thief’s Bandcamp.

The fact that the cover of Demos Vol. 1 – Topanga Canyon, CA – Feb 2018 says “5 of 34” suggests there’s much more to come from these sessions, so keep your ears out.
