Big Thief indulge in infatuation with a country twang on “Born For Loving You”

Big Thief have digitally released “Born For Loving You”, the b-side to their recent single “Vampire Empire” that will be released on 7″ on October 20. The new track was recorded alongside “Vampire Empire with Dom Monks at Guissona, Spain’s Teatre de cal Eril Studio during a recent tour.

With a loping country loveliness, “Born For Loving You” takes us back to one of Adrianne Lenker’s favourite places: her birth (“1991, mama pushin’ like hell”). This is a way for her to express the omnipotent love she has for the “you” of the song’s title, a love that has lived within her body since its emergence and will last “from the last breath of my first death / to this lifetime and lifetimes left”. It’s a truly heartwarming song that sounds like the band leaning on their mutual love and affection for each other to produce something pure, simple and true.
