Big Thief announce new album, share lead single “Incomprehensible”

Big Thief have announced the forthcoming release of their sixth studio album, entitled Double Infinity, due out September 5 on 4AD — it follows their Grammy-nominated 2022 album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You. The new album was produced, engineered, and mixed by longtime collaborator Dom Monks.

It was recorded last winter and finds the band working with a troupe of likeminded musicians, including Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Mikey Buishas.

For our first glimpse, we’ve been offered “Incomprehensible”, a layered but intuitive gem that allows them to further refine their folk and indie rock aesthetic. It’s a gorgeous opening salvo for an album with some heavy expectations. Go get lost in its eclectic echoes and report back so we can compare notes.

Listen to the song below and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates.
