Another Michael announce debut album with the blustering indie of “I Know You’re Wrong”

Back in October we were introduced to the homespun indie sound of Philly trio Another Michael when they shared two tracks and revealed the news that they’d signed to Run For Cover. Today they’ve gone a step further and revealed that their debut album, New Music and Big Pop, will be released on February 19. They’ve also shared a new song called “I Know You’re Wrong”, with singer Michael Doherty saying:

“‘I Know You’re Wrong’ came to be when I first started toying with my new Electro-Harmonix Freeze, a pedal which has since become a piece of gear I go back to often when songwriting. Speaking of freeze, the ending lyrics tell a true story: It hadn’t snowed in Albany in a very long time. No snow whatsoever in the winter of 2016, and still no snow at the time of writing the song in late January of 2017. But by nature, all things overdue will eventually give, and soon enough we had a storm that our good friend, neighbour, and engineer Scoops Dardaris could only describe as ‘Snow-pocalypse 2k17.’ Who still remembers?”

Another Michael open up “I Know You’re Wrong” with blustering bluffs of guitar, reminiscent of the snow they reference above. It’s a more boisterous song than we’ve heard from them before, but the core of the track remains Doherty’s warm and glowing voice. It’s an amalgamation of DIY, indie, country and emo that is utterly captivating, especially with Doherty’s true-to-life storytelling, and makes us even more excited for their debut album.

The single’s accompanying lyric video was made by bassist Nick Sebastiano, and recreates the narrative entirely within the colourfully pixilated world of RuneScape. Watch it below.

Another Michael’s debut album New Music and Big Pop will be released on February 19 through Run For Cover. Make sure you follow them on Bandcamp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
