Alex Porat finds the “Blueprint” for a hit

There are hundreds of artists who try to shock their way into your cerebellum, so it’s nice to hear Alex Porat take the gentle approach on her new single “Blueprint”. The Toronto-based singer delivers a delectable vocal that’s instantly authentic and heartfelt, with a well-crafted chorus that lingers like a blue sky over Lake Ontario.

Porat says, “‘Blueprint’ was a co-write with Elsa Curran and Rob Resnick and I remember that day telling them how this person is just too good to be true. If they’re not the one then I don’t know who could be. It’s a bittersweet love song, which is uncharted territory for me, but I’m so glad we went there. I was so scared to let anyone hear it for the first time honestly, because it all felt too real. All the details in the verses were inspired from real memories and moments, so this song truly ended up being an excerpt from my diary.”

“Blueprint” is the final teaser for Porat’s EP crushed! that drops in late June. Alex’s song “Sensitive” was featured recently in the Tina Fey Netflix film The Four Seasons – and she’s obviously found the blueprint for getting love songs placed in hit movies.

Alex Porat’s music is an oasis from the onslaught of attention-craving artists this summer.
