In this instance, Tim is the girl and Adam is the guy. And they are engaged to be married. Once you understand the deceptive band name and it’s reference to each member, you come to realize that the Tim & Adam moniker is a throwback to the male/female duets of the 60’s and 70’s, with call and response vocals and instrumentation that highlights the individual characteristics of their voices. Tim Yehezkely was born in Israel but moved to the US when she was just three years old. Learning to play music at an early age, she bounced around from band to band in her high school years before realizing that the experimental aspects of music were what appealed most to her. She met the members of what would become the indie pop group The Postmarks at an open mic night, and they instantly felt a communal musical spark–these guys would also be the ones who introduced her to her future fiance. Adam Rosenberg had a similar musical upbringing and jumped around from band to band in his 20’s, most notably releasing music with bands such as Whirlaway, I Am Stereo, and Hello Human. But after being introduced to Tim by a few of his friends (members of The Postmarks), Tim & Adam began writing songs and set about self-releasing their debut record.
Blending analog instrumentation with an ear toward a more experimental compositional approach, the duo’s predisposition toward gradual synthesis between musical genres is on display throughout their latest single “One Little Taste.” Yehezkely and Rosenberg’s vocal give and take suits the fast paced rhythmic interplay of the track and pushes it further into an oddly desaturated version of what genre-hopping indie rock might one day sound like. Full of the vintage Lowrey organ that they found and bought at a thrift store (and which makes a recurring appearance on the album) and various backing musical ephemera, “One Little Taste” could be seen as a blueprint for their unconventional approach to their own influences and similar musical upbringing.
Beats Per Minute is proud to premiere the latest track “One Little Taste” from Tim & Adam’s recently released debut record.
