We are about at the one year mark since Guided By Voices reunited with their classic lineup of Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Greg Demos, Mitch Mitchell, and Kevin Fennell, and it has been a particularly sweet run. I personally saw the band three times and never tired of their hard drinking, hard smoking, hard talking, and hard playing. But, no one thought this could last forever and we reported that their last reunion show was scheduled to take place on September 9th at the Hopscotch Music Festival. So, it is with some curiosity that we report a new Guided By Voices album scheduled for release on January 1st, 2012.
Yeah, you heard me right. According to Mojo, the record, titled Let’s Go Eat The Factory, will feature 21 songs and even provides a tracklisting. It will be the first album by GbV since 2004, and the first from this lineup since 1996. Check out the full tracklist below and keep a lookout for more news about the future plans of Guided By Voices. I guess ending the reunion tour didn’t mean ending the reunion. Which, you know, is awesome.
