There is an aspect to Julian Lynch that sounds untouched by modern times, as if he climbed out of some back-woods Yeti cave with Justin Vernon and somehow had a tremendous sense for pop melodies and keen insight to human emotions. But, there is the other side to Lynch, who is always looking forward sonically, and thus on “Back,” when the bridge kicks in, it could just as easily be called “Forward.”
