Last year, The Sea And Cake joined Broken Social Scene for a series of dates that indicated new music was on the horizon. After some silence, the band has announced their first release in three years, The Moonlight Butterfly, will be released on May 30th.
The album is not an EP, but a mini-album of six new songs and 33 minutes of music. According to Prefix, the record “includes some new direction from the band as they are exploring different structures and textures with varied instrumentation. The project additionally serves as a holdover until a proper full-length album, which is due out in late 2011 or early 2012.”
