Though Vetiver is commonly associated with the “freak folk” scene, in reality the SF-based group is just regular folk. Or folky rock. Whatever. What is important is that the group has a great track record for producing music that is perfect for the calmer times in your life. Even reading what Sub Pop has to say about their new album flows with the sort of breezy poetry usually reserved for classrooms. The music industry needs a little less of the in-your-face tunes that are so popular. A little subtlety goes a long way.
