These kind of leaks are rarely incorrect. They are usually exactly what they appear to be, leaks. So the fact that NME is reporting that Amazon in Germany is listing a new U2 offering for May 27th should not be taken lightly, especially considering that the band will be touring around then (Glastonbury, Anaheim).
NME got all “professional journalism-y” and actually tried to contact U2, who’s PR offered this: “As has been widely reported U2 are in the studio working on a new record but no release date has been set.” YES IT HAS, IT”S MAY 27TH!!!
The follow-up to 2009’s No Line On The Horizon could also be an album that has been rumored to be in the can since 2009, titled Songs Of Ascent. Regardless, these Amazon leaks often do hold some water, but not enough water to make this anything more than a rumor. Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
