Sub Pop has always been there for you. Whether it Sun Day Real Estate’s landmark Diary, Band of Horses throwback record Cease To Begin, Wolf Parade’s debut, Slaeter-Kinney empowerment of rocking girls, The Shins making you fall in love with Natalie Portman or the introduction to Kurt Cobain, Sub Pop had been a label that has remained on the cutting edge for more than twenty years, always offering something around the bend that just might top everything they had previously put out.
Well, now is your chance to give back to the community of people who work for Sub Pop, as one of their own, VP of Sales Andy Kotowicz recently was killed in an auto accident at the young age of thirty-seven. This has darkened what is normally the happiest time of the year, for togetherness and year end lists and office parties. And those things will still happen, but unfortunately the crew of Sub Pop and especially the family of Andy, will not be enjoying it with the same smiles.
If you would like to help, Sub Pop is holding an auction to raise money for the wife and daughter of their departed friend. Items have been donated from Muse, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Band of Horses, The Dead Weather and tons more. Maybe you can find a holiday gift on there and give back to a worthwhile cause at the same time. Participate in the auction here.
There will also be two benefit concerts, which I’ll leave you with, but even if you can’t help with money (like me), any prayers, positive thoughts or good vibes that you want to send to the Kotowicz’s would surely be appreciated.
