“From Healer to Dealer” Packshot by Paul Kooiker

Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul are neck-deep in wellness trends on “From Healer to Dealer”, announce new album

Irreverent dance-pop duo Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul have announced that they’ll release a new album called Mainland Madinina on 5 February via DeeWee. We heard the early single “Googoo Gaga” in September and now we have a new offering, “Healer To Dealer”.

On a typically classy and intricate set of synths and rhythms, Adigéry sings about an unhealthy addiction to self-help books and wellness trends that give her a “false feeling of hope”. As she finds they don’t provide the answer, she backslides back to her bad habits and Pupul’s dastardly arrangement seems to mock her with energetic and provocative glee.

The second half of the song then devolves into a skit between the two, playing the roles of “Grace” and “Ruben”, catching up on a call. This self-righteous and self-obsessed duo sound off about the different ways they’ve been bettering themselves and they validate each other – until they eventually devolve into an argument about who is the most toxic.
