black midi alum My New Band Believe share the itching “Numerology”, announce album

Cameron Picton – formerly bassist and sometime vocalist of black midi – has announced the debut album from his new project My New Band Believe. It’s a self-titled record that will be out on 10 April through Rough Trade.

Alongside the album announcement they have shared a new single – but not one that will be on the album, of course; that would be too simple!

“Numerology” is a high-energy piece with blistering almost flamenco guitars forming a backbone to Picton’s woozily psychedelic musings. As the song chugs breathlessly along it builds up a head of steam, like a runaway train laden with saxophones and violins that’s surely heading for a colossal crash – but somehow ends up performing a neat and tidy somersault to a perfect dismount.

Watch the video for “Numerology” below or find it on streamers.
