Zoey Madison offers retro charm on “Move”

New York artist Zoey Madison just released her debut EP Electric, produced by industry veteran Matt Chiaravalle (Warren Zevon, Debbie Harry). One of the highlights is “Move”, a song that grabs your ear because it’s in 3/4 time, not the usual 4/4 of most pop hits.

Madison’s dulcet voice will remind some listeners of legends like Mariah Carey, but it also has a contemporary feel, too. “Move” sounds like what you’d get if Addison Rae was backed by a bluesy guitar instead of synths and samples.

“‘Move’ came from wanting to blend my love of timeless, vintage glamour with the sound that feels real to me — modern pop and R&B,” says Madison. “It’s nostalgic and fresh at the same time, and that mix feels like me.”

Even the name “Zoey Madison” has an iconic, only-in-New-York quality. Keep your eye on this rising star.
