Tuvaband really isn’t a band, but the solo work of Norwegian artist Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser. And “solo” is an understatement because Tuva writes, records and mixes all her music and releases it on her own label. This one-woman phenomenon has a new album entitled Seven Ways Of Floating – and the title song is immersive dreampop at its best.
Tuva has a crystalline voice that glides effortlessly over enchanting rhythms. Some tracks on the new album (like “Galloping Chest”) will remind you of Lorde and Kate Bush.
“I’ve always liked the idea of starting fresh,” says Tuva. “It makes it possible to close an old chapter and begin with a blank canvas. Sometimes I’m not sure where I’m heading, but I know I need to turn in a different direction.”
Tuvaband has already earned two Norwegian Grammy nominations, and this album could win some American trophies, too.
