90s star Sophie B. Hawkins is back with a reimagined version of her classic 1994 Whaler called Whaler Re-Emerging album that drops next month. Now a whole new generation of listeners can ride the rivers of rhythm in the remake of her classic “Right Beside You”.
“We recorded the album in two days with Andrew Oedel at Ghost Hit Recording in Massachusetts,” says Hawkins. “My voice is as raw as raw can be, no tuning or corrections, and I think the raw and unfiltered me is the best me.”
Hawkins’ 1993 smash “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover” has been streamed more than 56 million times around the world including by new Gen Z fans. After topping the charts, Sophie launched an acting career – and was hailed for portraying Janis Joplin in the touring production of Room 105.
The music icon will soon headline an 11-date tour in Canada.
