Moreish Idols will release their debut album, All in the Game, on March 7 via Speedy Underground. The songs revolve around the concepts of existentialism, memory, and illness — it’s a way for the band to document their own sense of purpose and to explore a collective feeling of impermanence within the chaos of cross-genre experimentation. The record’s lead single, “Dream Pixel”, is a psych-soaked blues ripper that evolves into a full-on cacophony of sax skronks, distortion-encased guitars, and chopped-up electronics. Their ability to weave these skewered arrangements into a coherent sonic statement is nothing short of miraculous, discovering a whole host of alternate somnambulic realties in which these sounds reveal themselves Moreish Idols. Dense and nebulous, the track trumpets like a pack of wild elephants as manic rhythms crash against one another in a pageant of volcanic eruptions.
Discussing the new song, the band says, “’Dream Pixel’ is about what we all see in our dreams; the colours, sounds and occurrences that are often too surreal to put into words and leave you questioning how the subconscious can paint such a vivid, psychedelic picture. Inspired by the experience of swimming in phosphorescence in Cornwall, ‘Dream Pixel’ celebrates the moments in life that could easily be mistaken for a dream, glitch or trip.”
