Rising star EMELINE has released “feelings” the latest in a series of profile-raising singles.
The new song approaches the hot-button topic of power imbalances in toxic relationships. While this is a touchy theme, EMELINE strides into it full of righteous confidence over a stomping pop production. She cuts right through the noise and tells it like it is: “You think you can hit the spot / but you don’t even last / You think you know what she wants / But you don’t even ask.” “feelings” is not a pure takedown of egotistical lovers though, it is a call to show the other party due respect: “she doesn’t just fuck she has feelings” EMELINE announces, before slicing through once more with the claim “you don’t want a person / just a body in your bed.” Devilish in both its message and its delivery, “feelings” is another assured and undeniable step from EMELINE.
