Both of The Weekend’s mixtapes seem like they were created in a universe all of their own, but Abel Tesfay is emerging from his homeland of Toronto Canada to headline Vice’s Upfront Extravaganza at Skylight One Hanson in New York on September 15th for his first US appearance, putting a face and performance to his late-night mixtape confessionals.
Update: The Weeknd has canceled his first American show at next week’s Vice party, with the magazine releasing the following statement: “The Weeknd has cancelled their scheduled New York City performance. We’re disappointed, but are here for him when he’s ready. We’re big fans.”
Bummer guys.
