With Sigur Ros’ name appearing on more festival bill and the band hinting that new music is imminent, it is not surprising that we finally have the album announcement for the band. Still, it’s good news, right?

CoS points to an article in the next Q in which the band spills the beans about their next effort. The album will be titled Valtari and is due May 28th in the U.K., and probably the next day in the U.S. The album is produced by the band and Alex Somers and features a bunch of songs that are virtually impossible for American’s to pronounce. We’re sure there will be a proper album announcement shortly, but for now head here to check out some pictures of the article.

UPDATE: The full details of the release of Valtari have now been revealed.

Valtari (which translates to ‘steamroller’) is 54 minutes long and features 8 tracks (which, with a little bit of math tells you that the average track length is just under 7 minutes. A couple of the tracks on the album, “Dauðalogn” and “Varðeldur” came around or shortly after the sessions that created Takk…, but overall the sound of the album is being described as being “like an avalanche in slow motion” and is more of an aural counterpart to ( ), with long atmospheric sections and a lack of formal structures.
