Island Records have today revealed plans to release a new Amy Winehouse album. Lioness: Hidden Treasures is a collection of previously unreleased tracks, from entirely new songs to different mixes of older ones. Winehouse had been working on her third album for years when she passed away back in July, but only three of the twelve songs from this new album were recorded after her 2006 album Back To Black.
Some fans may see this as the label taking advantage of the situation, but Winehouse’s family is on their side, with her father saying that he feels the release is “a fitting tribute.” The album comes out on December 5th in the UK and £1 from every album sale will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
