Low announce new Jeff Tweedy produced album for March

Minnesota trio Low have announced the release of a new album – their 10th – called The Invisible Way and set for release on Sub Pop on March 19th. This comes less than two years after the release of C’mon, and album we enjoyed a lot here at BPM, and the pace with which they’ve produced the follow up suggests that they’ve continued in a rich vein of form.

The Invisible Way was produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy at his studio, The Loft, in Chicago. Low opted to work with Tweedy after hearing his work on Mavis Staples’ latest album.

You can watch a trailer for the video below, which will give you a slight inkling about what the album will sound like, and as for thematically Low band leader Alan Sparhawk has said that he was inspired by “the drug war, the class war, plain old war war, archaeology and love,” which is more or less the archetype for a Low album at this point.

Check out the trailer for The Invisible Way below, and if that gets you in the mood to listen to some Low then you can download a free 6-track live EP called Plays Nice Places, which features a new song called “Waiting” and a guest appearance by Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, using the widget beneath.

Low are also heading to Europe just after the release of The Invisible Way, so if you happen to live there you can catch them at one of the dates which are listed at the bottom of the post.
