Today Best Coast, musical moniker of Bethany Cosentino, has revealed that they will release a new album entitled The Only Place on May 15th. The album follows up her 2010 debut Crazy For You, and in speaking to Pitchfork she told them that it’s both “grown up” and “seriously emo,” which seems like a contradiction of terms to us, but we’ll roll with it.
Cosentino’s band name is an ode to the place she loves, and she’s gone even more all-out with her love for California on this one, with the above (pretty awesome) cover art, and the album title The Only Place intended to be about California.
The album is 11 tracks, but includes three songs (“How They Want Me To Be,” “Up All Night,” “Make You Mine”) have been released previously in different forms. They have been rerecorded for the new album.
The album will come out through Mexican Summer, like her debut. Check out the track list below and also all of Best Coast’s currently announced tour dates courtesy of Pitchfork.
