I’m not sure if there’s any way to fully prepare yourself for Julia Holter’s upcoming album Ekstasis, but starting by listening to “In The Same Room” is probably the best way. The song is far more upbeat and inviting than the majority of the album’s dauntingly and impressively oppressive songs, so it makes sense that she has decided to release it as a single.
The video for “In The Same Room” was directed by Hilary Walsh who apparently “felt an inherent response to portray the song through a day dream sequence.” Upon watching the video you can see why, the haunting footage matches perfectly with the song.
Ekstasis comes out through RVNG INTL. on March 6th.
