TOLEDO share emotive home movie-like video for the wistful “Dog Has Its Day”

Brooklyn duo TOLEDO have been, if a tad quietly, making a name for themselves via their placid, gently moving take on Indie folk. They’re puzzling adept at expressing quite a lot by seemingly doing very little, resulting in music by turns refreshing and subtly bracing.

Their latest single, taken from their recent Jockeys of Love EP, is no exception. “Dog Has Its Day” is immediately pretty, but takes more examination to uncover its subtly, even privately, mournful side. It can be quite stunning when focused on from the right angle.

Its video, a pastiche of family home videos, albeit starring a humanoid dog, Rusty, is deeply affecting, despite its slightly unusual concept (Hey, uh, calling all furries?). We witness Rusty across various ups and downs, forming and leaving relationships, and if you’ve ever loved and lost, well, you’re going to feel this one.
