Shygirl is a provocative and commanding sex goddess on “Nike”

Shygirl is approaching the release of her debut album Nymph later this month, but ahead of that has shared the new single “Nike”.

If you thought “Nike” would be about shoes, think again: this is about the god of victory. Living up to the album title Nymph, it finds Shygirl exerting her sexual prowess and agency over a minimal and utterly addictive production from Mura Masa and Oscar Sheller. She almost seems to pity her plaything as her power seems to overwhelm the poor man: “I tell him ‘lay that pipe’ and he blew it / He told me what he liked, nothing to it.” The domineering beat suggests a gyrating, irrepressible being moving through the world and picking the fruits of her desire at will, disposing of them just as easily. It’s downright sexy – and intimidating.

Shygirl’s debut album Nymph will be out on September 30 through Because Music (pre-order/save). You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram.
