Robert Plant says no Led Zeppelin reunion

Robert Plant’s reluctance to participate in a Led Zeppelin reunion tour is common knowledge, as is Jimmy Page’s desire to get the band back together. Ever since the band’s triumphant, critically-acclaimed one-off London reunion in December reignited talk of a tour, unsubstantiated rumors to that end have popped up every few months.

If the latest round of rumors are to be believed, Page, bassist John Paul Jones, and drummer Jason Bonham (son of late original Zep drummer John Bonham) have been rehearsing with various stand-in vocalists, prompting Plant to agree to rejoin the band for one final tour. Not so, according to an official statement released Monday on Plant’s website.

Plant is currently wrapping up a tour with bluegrass star Alison Krauss in support of their critically acclaimed 2007 album Raising Sand, after which the singer states that he has no plans to tour in any capacity for at least a couple of years. Read Plant’s full statement after the jump.

Full statement from robertplant.com:
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their ‘Raising Sand’ tour.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their ‘Raising Sand’ tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin,Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5th.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to
rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said.

“I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects,” he added.
