Phoenix to work with excessive drums, orchestra, train on LP5

Well, being that every big indie band needs to be in the news today, what’s going on with Phoenix? Well, I’m glad you asked, as Twenty Four Bit reports that the group is working actively on their fifth LP, with some unlikely help:

“If it works, we’ll probably come back and record something that’s going to be on the album,” said (Thomas) Mars, describing their new tunes as inspired by the both ‘nostalgic’ and ‘futuristic’ sound of a French high-speed train called the TGV. “It’s very experimental. It’s minimal[istic] music,” he mused, adding that their past work with drum machines is “a little frustrating” and they “want to escape that” for the next LP.

They added they they are recording multiple percussion parts and are working with an orchestra in Byron Bay. Check out the train they are talking about and see if it pumps you up for new music from Phoenix (It kinda sounds more like the bird “phoenix” than the band “Phoenix”).
