Hailing from Norway, singer-songwriter Mia Berg now works in the epicenter that is Oslo, but she originally hails from the country’s second largest city, Bergen. She often finds herself returning there, whether for inspiration or simply for a walk, with the latter activity often resulting in the former, even without intent.
One such stroll resulted in her latest song, “Goodbye, for a while”. It delves into childhood memories and present realities alike, a stark yet heartfelt portrait of aging and the toll it takes on our relationships. Built around gentle guitar and distant piano, the track also boasts unique, almost eerie percussion, perfectly suiting the bruised atmosphere of the track.
Speaking on the track, Berg shares, “When I’m home in Bergen I can walk past my old school or places I was at a party – I also think back to people who were important in my life then. I find it strange, and a little sad, how fleeting moments are, and how people constantly go in and out of our lives. There was a song attached to that feeling, and this is it.“
