B-âhwe is about to have your full attention, rest assured. Having cut her teeth experimenting in Leeds, the singer has relocated to South London, intent on launching her career properly. She, along with the rest of us, clearly have a lot to look forward to.
Her blend of butter-soft vocals, intricate, roomy instrumentals, blended with intimate lyricism and a lightly (and delightfully) psychedelic vibe have led her to stand easily towards the forefront of a promising new generation of British Neo-soul artists, right alongside Greentea Peng.
Her latest single, “Bewitched” is another home run, opening with beckoning – and nearly eerie – layered vocals before expanding into the proper song, with B-âhwe grabbing you right from the outset. Partly inspired by both Oscar Wilde and Ella Fitzgerald’s classic take on jazz standard “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered”, the song combines its disparate influences into a seamless, intoxicating blend.
Check it out below (or via Spotify) and stay tuned for more from B-âhwe very soon.
