Kid Be Kid showcases her consummate talents on stunning ballad “Sense”

Last weekend at Dutch city festival Peel Slowly And See, this one has seen plenty of impressive shows, but one of the craziest highlights had to be Berlin-based artist Kid Be Kid. It’s one thing to have a great singing voice or be a virtuoso beat boxer, it’s another to practice both at the same time, while also manning piano and synths for good measure. Unsurprisingly, Kid Be Kid’s set was met with plenty of oohs and aahs, with the sporadic are you kidding me!? peppered in-between.

Kid Be Kid’s new single “Sense” is a soulful, free-flowing piano ballad that ends with her displaying all of her talents at once. It’s easy for all these skills to take the forefront, but sonically, Kid Be Kid has quite the impressive range and mixes them inventively: the forlorn neo-R&B of James Blake, the confessional balladry of Fiona Apple, the deft experimentalism of Radiohead, the groove-laden sensibility of The Roots. That versatility – in combination with those uncanny performing talents – make Kid Be Kid one to watch for many years to come.
