Grete finds a new groove on “Skinny Bones”

Grete grew up in Lithuania, then moved to Manchester to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. Her first EP was jazzy and avant-garde, but now sheโ€™s reinventing herself in the style of The Weeknd and early Tove Lo. Her new single โ€œSkinny Bonesโ€ is the most amazing career pivot since Dylan went from folk to rock.

โ€œโ€˜Skinny Bonesโ€™ is a story about strongly disliking someone, despite the songโ€™s glitzy presentation,โ€ says Grete. โ€œInstead of getting stuck in negative feelings, Iโ€™d rather convey my emotions in a fun, positive way that allows me to see the brighter side and move on.โ€

I hope Grete releases a double album some day, with one volume containing Whitney Houston-style dance gems and the other featuring complex chords and time signatures. With her wide-ranging talent, it wouldnโ€™t surprise me if she opened for Drake and played Carnegie Hall next year.
