Deradoorian examines her false wisdom on “It Was Me”

Deradoorian may have pushed the release of her new album back to September, but she’s not holding back on still delivering the goods. Following recent beauty “Monk’s Robes”, she is today sharing new song and video “It Was Me”.

On “It Was Me” she is once again taking swipes at the idea that enlightenment comes easy, pulling no punches as she sings: “What do you want to know about meditation? / What do you want to know about the brain? / I only went looking for these things / When I knew I was going insane.” This contemplation comes atop a featherlight and buzzing guitar jam, while simple drums tumble beneath. Far from the placidity and clearness of a meditative mind, “It Was Me” buzzes like a cortex full of contrasting and strident ideas, but Deradoorian ensures they come out with honest beauty and deference: “All I know is a feeling / It makes me feel good or bad / I don’t know what those words mean / And I don’t know what I am.”

Deradoorian’s new album Find The Sun is out September 18 on ANTI-.
