Alex G delivers the tender “Runner”, announces new album

Alex G will release his new album God Save The Animals on September 23 through Domino. The new album will feature recent single “Blessing” and today’s new offering “Runner”.

A brighter and more straightforward pop-rocker than “Blessing”, “Runner” still has plenty of Alex G’s idiosyncrasies – while also having something reminiscent of Soul Asylum’s “Runaway Train” (or is that just me?). “I like people who I can open up to,” he begins earnestly over strummed acoustic and droplets of piano. The song unfolds in this wholesome way, even as he recounts his flighty existence and being hit on the nose with a rolled up magazine like a dog. Despite the sad-sack nature – or perhaps because of it – “Runner” is a sunshine bop, perfect for contemplative summer strolls.

Watch the video for “Runner” below or find it on streaming platforms.

Alex G’s new album God Save The Animals will be out on September 23 through Domino (pre-order/save). You can find Alex G on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
