Just like the recently Universal Republic signed James Blake, one of the biggest breakout artists on the other side of the musical spectrum in the hip hop world are Das Racist. The overly-sarcastic hip hop trio first came to fame in late 2008 for their fast food celebrating “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell,” but have since broken away from the viral hit and in 2010 released two fantastic EPs Shut Up, Dude and Sit Down, Man. Now getting ready for their first full album this year (supposedly and aptly titled RELAX), we hear our first sample in the form of “Swate.”
Produced by Mike Finto and featuring a guest verse by Lakutis (last seen on Sit Down, Man‘s “Rapping 2 U”), this track as per usual hits all sorts of wide-varying topics from Jesus freaks to Inspector Gadget to Snapple caps. If “Swate” is any indication of the next album, RELAX should not disappoint when it comes out sometimes in 2011 (no any specific date yet).
