Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink, better known as Azure Ray, after a six-year hiatus, came back late last year with their album Drawing Down the Moon. The album continued to reflect their soft harmonic vocals, subtle and atmospheric effects, and melodic dream pop sound they were known for since 2001. Left off the cutting room floor from that album, “Silverlake” fits in perfectly as an extra taste of what their sweet woolgathering album offers. The track, which is set to be their next single, is both prominent in that this Azure Ray’s first recording from their hiatus and that the late Sparklehorse lead singer Mark Linkous helped record the track.
